                                   UNITED STATES VOLUNTEERS
JOINT SERVICES COMMAND

ARMY, NAVY, MARINES
AIR FORCE, COAST GUARD

PRIMARY MISSION:
BOOTS ON GRAVES

The Department of Defense Report to Congress.  Military Funeral Honors for Veterans, section 567 of the Strom Thurmond National Defense Authorization Act in Fiscal Year 1999 report stated that in 1999, 1500 veterans died each day, for a total of 537,000 in that year.

Of this group 51,000 veterans received honors.  22,000 services were done by the military and 29,000 by volunteer veteran service organizations.

Of this group 270,000 veterans received grave markers.  The result is that 90% of our nations veterans were buried without military honors and 44% would have requested military honors if they were readily available.

90% did not receive any military honors at graveside.  The graveside military honor is the "Final Salute" and greatest honor a grateful nation can pay to those who have served to defend our freedoms.

As the expected number of veterans who will pass away on any given day will reach its peak of 1700 in 2008 which is 620,000 annually.   The mission is urgent!

This overwhelming mandate and challenge of the United States Volunteers - Joint Services Command (USV-JSC) is to raise Operational Military Honor Units in all 50 states.

The USV-JSC is searching for retired military and civilian men and women, and clergy members who would be willing to re-enlist in this volunteer military service organization to be trained and called to active duty as a civilian volunteer to honor our nation's veterans.
